I just read that Exelixis is funding another clinical trial for glioblastoma patients. Perhaps they think that XL-184 will produce different results than it has in the past. It has failed three times to demonstrate the safety of XL-184 during its Phase IIb clinical trials. Repeating the same action over and over again, and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. This drug is dangerous. GBM Patients have lost their lives because of this drug. My father had an aneurism after taking this drug for two weeks.
Exelixis has lost the partnership of Glaxo-Smith Kline, not to mention the fact that Bristol Myers Squibb backed out of a joint partnership with Exelexis at the last minute and no longer wanted any rights to the drug. Why would any doctor want their patients to join this clinical trial?
Exelixis is a morally defunct pharmaceutical company. You let me know of one person who has not suffered because of this drug and I will amend this post. But, for now, if you have a Glioblastoma Multiforme, stay as far away from XL-184 as you can (and any doctor that recommends it, for that matter.)
